Issue #16
Hi Page Turners,
Wedding season has finally commenced... well for me anyway. Yesterday I attended my first wedding (of which I am many sure there are many more to come) and now as I am writing this I am just shattered. So whilst I recuperate by sleeping and cleaning up all the mess that goes into wedding prep (clothes, make-up, shoes etc) comment or reply back to this email what was the last wedding you went to? And when does your wedding season officially start?
Books 📚
This week I read a great book called Love in Colour by Bolu Babalola. A collection of short stories that are retellings of popular myths. Read my full review here- https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/5613825444?book_show_action=false
What books have you read this week? What are your thoughts on retellings, are you a fan or is it not for you?
Opinion piece📰
Over on BBC IPlayer I watched Billie Jean King's interview with Amol Rajan. Now I have recently discovered my love for tennis (in particular grand slams) so I didn't really know much of her. This interview is a great insight into the background and before and after to where she is now. My takeaways from the interview are she is an activist who founded the WTA and really fought for women to be paid in the sport. She speaks about her mental health and how different things are now compared to when she was playing. And most important of all her love for the support. It was a great interview I would definitely add to the TBW list.

In Greece this week an overcrowded fishing boat that capsized and sank on Wednesday authorities are still continuing to find survivors but with 78 people already been confirmed dead the numbers are going to continue rising. Which leads me to continually ask...
💭 My 3 am thoughts 🕒
With the latest migration policies and action plans how do we stop these situations not only continuing but potentilly worsening?
Quote of the week ✏
'Did you know that thunderstorms don't always produce rain? It's a shame, because the rivers hear the thunder and see the lightening and expect to be filled up only to end up disappointed. Dry thunderstorms are just show offs. Scaring birds and burning trees while the river pants. Forgetting that the river helps feed the clouds that thunderstorms are created from.' - Taken from Love in Colour by Bolu Babalola.
