Hi Page Turners,
I hope you are all well and have had a wonderful week. This week has been a bit of a blur. It started off with the 13/14/15th of Sha'ban (Islamic lunar calender) and then the world celebrated International Women's Day and then I was panicking about getting my assignment in on time. I really enjoyed the question of the assignment and definitely want to explore it further in my own time. (I am saying this before I get my results 😁).
Scrambling to get my assignment in (which I did on Thursday Alhamdullilah). Let me know how your week went in the comments below.
Books 📚
On Thursday I finished reading The Marriage Portrait by Maggie O'Farrell. I am a big fan of hers in general but her historical fiction hit differently. You can find my review here https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4763167220?book_show_action=false
A beautifully written book that has been long-listed for the Women's Prize for Fiction which she won with her book Hamnet back in 2020. You can read my review for that-here-https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4070553643
I have no doubt this will be shortlisted but I hope this wins. (I am biased because I haven't read the others).
I am re-reading The Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard and let's just say I always find it so interesting what I remember and what I forget. My review is yet to come once I finish the whole series.
Opinion piece📰
Reports have found that police could have intervened to arrest Wayne Cousens to save Sarah Everad's life. Similarly, the police had reports of the bomber of Manchester Arena but failed to act upon it. What does that say about the system? About the protection and safety of women?

An article giving an insight into how Muslims are oppressed and subjugated under the BJP government I also wrote my thoughts on the Modi doc which you can find here- Update #2 (fizwrites.wixsite.com)
💭 My 3am thoughts 🕒
The children who suffered from the earthquake in Turkey and Syria are always going to carry that trauma with them.

Comment below on the books you have read. Have you seen the Women's Prize for Fiction longlist what do you think of it? Have you read any titles from there? Will forever be recommending Hamnet and last year’s shortlisted book The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak. My review can be found here-https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4707759825
