Issue #20
Hi Page Turners,
How was your week? This week was Wimbledon finals and because I follow Ons's journey closely her loss was heavily felt. However that is the nature of tennis and what makes it so compelling. It's not always about how good you are but it's also about how good you are mentally. Ons had a LOT of pressure and expectation and maybe it got too much. You can never know what they are going through in that moment. Sometimes failure, losses, and rejection is needed.
Because it is all about the comeback how you pick yourself up, how you learn from it, how you heal, how you fight and become stronger. When her time comes the win will be that much sweeter and honestly I cannot wait for it because that will be one to watch. I am currently watching the match between Alcraz and Djokovic and WHAT A MATCH I am captivated and at the edge of my seat.
If you want let me know your biggest losses and how you came back by replying to this email or commenting below.
Books 📚
I haven't read this much this week because of obvious reasons but last week I finished a crime/mystery read about a holiday murder and people watching. Weirdly good but not the best was great escapism my full review here- https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/5672333679?book_show_action=false

I love behind the scenes with athletes this was a great watch:
Arts and Humanities are nearly always under funded so this article was much needed to highlight just how essential it is but also how much it also gives back. I wish the government gives more funding and importance to places that are really life changing.

Floods in the South East these situations need to have more coverage and more highlighting in order for action to take place and change to happen.
💭 My 3 am thoughts 🕒
Why I love tennis is because there is no team mates to rely on there is you, your mind, your belief, and your game. Tennis is very much like chess but I think it is essential not just in sport but in from primary school mental health and the science behind it should be its own subject itself because it is so essential.
