Issue #22
Hi Page Turners,
How was your week? Going to a place that has no WiFi really hits home how much we rely and use technology and honestly sometimes all you need is a digital detox and re-connecting with nature. I love nothing better than doing this and I have learnt that when things get to much for me this is my medicine. This week the UN stated we are in a crises of global BOILING and it reinforced how much each and every one of us need to do our bit to revert this. Books 📚
The Push was one of my favourite psychological thrillers of 2021. Such a page Turner and honestly very gripping. The Whispers I didn't enjoy as much as I expected probably because it wasn't an original concept or I have read to much similar stories like it, however it is character driven and very readable I would still recommend it.

Opinion piece📰
A week or so back I read All The Houses I've Ever Lived In by Keiran Yates and it is something that is still on my mind. Housing is such a big issue that no one does anything about or that its highlighted and talked about enough. A friend discussed about a play acting out the Grenfell tragedy and it was only when I read this article- https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/jul/23/theatre-grenfell-inquiry-play-interviews-survivors-justice that showed me how important it it justice is brought to the people who have suffered from the hands of the government.
On Netflix I watched the College Admission Scandal. I remember when this happened because I was doing my A Levels and UCAS application. I remember it because of the discussion I had with my teacher about how elite and prestigious universities will always favour the rich over the disadvantaged. This documentary showed how Rick Singer got children from the rich and famous families into top US universities. It was kind of sickening to watch and honestly the sentences didn't do justice for the crimes they committed. (Also your telling me there are people that are still not doing this😐)

Also on Netflix I watched Matilda the musical. (My niece not me 😉) Did I enjoy it more than the movie...hmm not so sure. I did also watch Beef which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. It is very comedic and light but it is also so deep and thought provoking. A road rage incident that turns into revenge acts that turns into I don't even know what it just gets crazier and crazier but I loved it. Also the ending with Naomi and Jordon like did that just happen 😲😲😲😲 the ending was so heartfelt and there was so many great moments in there.
💭 My 3 am thoughts 🕒
Connecting with nature is such a great way but also so good for your mental health. This should be recommended to everyone as a form of free therapy.
Quote of the week ✏
'No matter how bad things get right now, you'll find the resolve to keep going, in ways you won't expect. Something'll land right there for you to find, just when you need it. But you have to wait. Be patient.' - Taken from The Whispers by Ashley Audrain.
