Issue #23
Hi Page Turners,
How was your week? I went on a canal walk this week with my niece and nephew and there is something riveting and serene about watching the water and the ducks. We didn't go too far but wondered if you walked the entire length of he canal whether they all connect with one another in different places. The weather picked up slightly this week so I was able to go out more and do more things. How was things where you are and what did you get up too? P.s I really have the urge to go on a boat ride or canoeing or paddle boarding do you know any good places? The only 'boat' I have been on are those oversized ducks which you pedal on the water and it is such a workout. 😁
Reply to this email if you have any places in mind or to let me know what you been up too, comment below! ☺
Books 📚
The Good Left Undone by Adriana Trigiani was a book I finished this week. Trigiani is my absoloute go to for pure escapism comfort, a chick-lit and you can rely on it will be good because her storytelling was amazing. The Good Left Undone perhaps wasn't my favourite of hers but was still an amazing read.

I also finished a short Japanese translated book called Days At The Morisaki Bookshop, a book about books and (indie) bookshops, how books heal and help you and our relationship with them, it was also a great read would definitely recommend.

Podcast 🎧
I have been really enjoying listening to Dua Lipa's podcast and have been devouring them in my spare times. I have been dipping in and out of the podcasts she has been doing and these are my top picks;
-Jennie Kim (ever since I watched the doc on Netflix I have been interested in Blackpink because I think the trainee routine is extraordinary and how they devote their lives to this so this was a great listen)
-Trever Noah (his book is on my tbr! I found his interview so interesting and thought provoking and really want to do a rabbit hole devouring his content).
-Nadia Murad (such an inspiring story also need to read her book as well. Everyone should also read up on her story and others like hers as well because it is so important we read up on it and educate ourselves and others.
-Riz Ahmed (loved this interview also need to watch The Long Goodbye, really interesting to hear his p.o.v and how he tackled Muslim representation in the film industry and continues to fight for it. Really great listen)
Which podcasts are you listening too, have you listened to any of the above what did you think?
Opinion piece📰
This week the was plans for the the Bibby Stockholm was unveiled and it just shocked me how cold the government can be and how they didn't think this through at all. The migrants who crossed the sea why would they then live on a sea in rooms that are not very habitual. It looks more like a docking load.

Imran Khan has been imprisoned and arrested it is so heart-breaking but expected. They focused so much on his arrest that they have neglected on the economy and the state of the country itself.

💭 My 3 am thoughts 🕒
I watched life at 50°C in India and Pakistan (BBC) and was really moved by the tree planting initiative and I just imagined if the whole world did this what affect it would have.
Quote of the week ✏
'It's funny. No matter where you go, or how many books you read, you still know nothing, you haven't seen anything. And that's life. We live our lives trying to find out way. It's like that Santõka Taneda poem, the one that goes, 'On and on, in and in, and still the blue-green mountains.' Taken from Days At The Morisaki Bookshop.
'When you find your purpose in life, it changes you. You see things differently. More clearly. You love more and better. You solve problems and are able to help others solve their because you stand in strength. You live in the whole world, not in the small corner of it. You serve.' Taken from The Good Left Undone.
