Hi Page Turners,
What a beautiful day! The sun always makes me happy but when he have the HEAT then it is a different level. I am trying to make the most of this weekend my neice and nephew stayed over and taking them to the park, playing in the garden, going for walks this is literally me taking advantage of the weather because we are not going to have this for a while. Reply to this email or comment below on how you spent your weekend?
Books 📚
So I was supposed to do blog posts this week...however the 'tomorrow' never came for me (which was frustrating and annoying) also a lesson here to never leave anything for 'tomorrow' and to just do whatever is on your to do list. But hopefully by next week's issue it should be up! :)
This week I finished reading How To Be an Antiracist- review here- https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3849216399
Really interesting read and one everyone should read!
Opinion piece📰
This week Forbes listed their annual Wealthy Billionaire list it was interesting seeing who made it (Trump didn't make it on their) but what I like reading is their philanthropy score and it is shocking (well not really- I would say at a stretch disgusting) how many 1s and 2s their are.

Have you ever thought as social media/being online as an 'epidemic' well you will after you watch this video.
This was really interesting and thought provoking but it also shows a mirror to your behaviour and the way you interact with the online world.
The Tory conference party that took place this week was...embarrassing. Rishi confirming HS2 is not going ahead is a major blow because that would have allowed to diversify the north but also to allow more opportunities. Not to mention the money spent on it and the land that is now just sitting their. The slogan "LONG-TERM DECISIONS FOR A BRIGHTER FUTURE” is actually cringe because I think it is such a cop out. Implenting these things when you know your not likely to be re-elected so just leave your mess for another person who doesn't know what to do with it. Basically what the Tory party are all about. Let's not discuss his wife's speech because WHAT WAS THAT! 😕

Loved this video! So authentic and unapologetically herself I love it!
It is the twentieth anniversary of The Kite Runner by Khalid Hosseini which is crazy right?! Although not my favourite of his love his other two books a little more... he talks about the publication of The Kite Runner and how it came about. Read more here: https://lithub.com/khaled-hossein-on-the-20th-anniversary-of-the-kite-runner/
https://www.theguardian.com/society/2023/oct/03/warning-unconscious-bias-working-class-pupils-schools-england
This was a really interesting read because it shows how schools use social mobility-unconscious bias to make children believe they are inferior/superior because of their 'class'. It is damaging and really destructive.
Prayers and thoughts to those who are caught up in the Palestine and Israel conflict! The news coverage again just highlighting the double standards.
💭 My 3 am thoughts 🕒
With Nobel Prizes being awarded this week it makes me question the validity of them. The question of how 'high' and 'low' comes into force.
Quote of the week ✏
'You may consider me a person with no address. I walk this earth in constant anticipation of my death.' - Taken from No One Prayed Over Their Graves- Khaled Khalifa
