Issue #46
Hi Page Turners,
Welcome to this week's RECAP. Today marks 100 days since the start of the Israel and Palestine war. 100 days of heartless brutality all in the name of defence. Countries with huge influence, power and wealth are putting all their resources towards Houthi and the Red Sea and again are showing where their priorities lie.

Reading 📚
This week I finished reading In Ascension by Martin MacInnes. It was longlisted (I think) for the Booker Prizes but please don't let that put you of reading it. I found it very readable and it really was an interesting read. I don't read much Sci-Fi fiction it has to be one of my least read genre's and thats probably because sometimes I have a hard time getting into it/understanding it or just because I am not the intended audience for it. In Ascension is my first book of the authors and I went in blind. It was hard to read but once you got going its hard to put down. 4* from me find my full review here- https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/6148793262?book_show_action=false
I also finished She and I by Hannah King. A thriller that tells what is going to happen in the prologue. This was a debut that I found was written so good. I read this in like two days because you just want to get to that ending. Review here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/6156912895
Excited for 😆
I am excited for Ramadan. I have always been excited for Ramadan's arrival however I have never fully prepared for it as I intend to do this year. (More on this in a later post) For the last four years Ramadan has always clashed with the multiple uni assignments I had to give in however this year as I am uni free I am excited to see how different it will be.
Chipping away at 📇
So I still haven't found a job and what really annoys me is those long winded application process of cover letters or 'describe in 100 words your best...' . It really puts me of trying to find a job or applying to them but it's something that I can't put of so I am hoping slowly but surely I will get better at this and finally find a job. (Any advice would be much appreciated).
A round up of 📰
This week legal hearing into the war in Palestine opens in The Hague as the international court of justice (ICJ) hears arguments alleging that Israel is committing genocide. This is led by South Africa who themselves went through Apartheid. With numbers still rising 23,000 Palestinians are dead South Africa are asking for an emergency order for Israel to halt its military operations. Which can't be said for the UK, this week David Cameron had his hearing on issues of October 7th and whilst admitting Israel is breaching humanitarian law such as restricting Palestinians from water and their supplies continues to defend Israel's 'defending themselves against Hamas'. But they can ironically send unauthorised weaponry to Israel.
Video showing the power of boycotting.
Research this week has also shown that carbon emissions from the first two months of the war in Palestine were higher than those in 20 of the world’s most climate-vulnerable nations. Countries that are worried and climate change should first start to look at wars such as Palestine/Ukraine/Yeman etc because the research says it all.
