Hi Page Turners,
Ramadan Mubarak to all who celebrate and to those who don't it is a celebratory greeting for the arrival of Ramadan. Ramadan is one of my favourite Islamic month and it is marked by fasting, giving charity and increasing your prayers and finally celebrating it with Eid celebrations. If your a real one 😉 you will know all about my Ramadan diaries on my blog. It is basically a look into my Ramadan, how I celebrate it, what it means to me, what I do in the month etc. Your in luck as I haven't posted yet on the 2024 diaries (yet) but if your interested on last year's post or want to subscribe so you don't miss out on a post this year (will be posting from today) the links are below.

Reading 📚
Just before Ramadan started I finished The Hike by Lucy Clarke and I read a book by her before which I didn't like so was a little apprehensive. However this book was amazing, a hike gone wrong and four characters with amazing back stories. This book is about survival and friendship highly recommend!

This is an article I found really helpful. https://theconversation.com/how-to-fast-safely-during-ramadan-what-the-science-shows
Highlights the scientific/spiritual benefits of fasting.
Ramadan is also such a humbling month especially with everything happening in the world. The situation in Gaza is not slowing down and it breaks my heart that during this month when families come together and is one of the most wholesome months that Palestinians can't experience it in peace. At Christmas time during the Ukraine/Russia war they had a temporary ceasefire to allow everyone to mark the holy month. Israel doesn't even have the audacity to do that (not that it is expected) but this month really puts things in perspective and I really related to this article- https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2024/mar/11/ramadan-muslim-gaza-bangladesh-fast-pray-palestinians
The Oscars took place this week and one thing that really touched and moved me was the several celebrities who wore the red pins to show support for a ceasefire in Gaza. Although this is just a show of support, America could and should be doing more to fight for a Ceasefire. It was also amazing to see pro-Palestinian protesters blocking roads nearby the ceremony which delayed the start of it.
I will be posting the next issue on Sunday so be sure to check that out! 😊
