Hi Page Turners,
I hope you are enjoying the season and are making lots and lots of good memories. Autumn, also known as fall, for me is all about vibes. Not my favourite season granted however you have to appreciate its aesthetic and the … I guess connotations and associations that come with the season. In this newsletter I will discuss my five fall favourites and reflections of last year’s October 7th.
Let’s start with my five fall favourites.
Vibes, vibes, vibes! I love nature and its natural beauty so growing older I am obsessed with natures phases and I guess using it as reflection and growth mirroring my own life. I love the changing of the colour of leaves, I love (get definition of what autumn is supposed to reflect). I am not the biggest fan of the whether but you have to take it in your stride and really appreciate the new energy of the crisp and chilly skies and I especially don’t take the sun (when it appears) for granted. I mean don’t you just love the duplicitous nature of it being really sunny as if it is a lovely sunny day except when you step outside you feel the bite in the air and you can see your breath and feel your hands and toes slowly going numb. I love seeing the leaves fall to the ground especially when it is a lot and just seeing life changing before your eyes. I always think a new season is a new start.
Books! Of course books has to make the list right?! For me I always associate autumn with classic literature just because I have the memory of reading Wuthering Heights and Bleak House in this season. So ever since then I read classic literature in Autumn. Of course I don’t just limit it to classic literature I am currently reading More Days at the Morisaki Bookshop by Satoshi Yagisawa. It is all about cozy and light reading, atmospheric reading with hot chocolate as a must.
Comfort food! it is just an excuse to eat junk food but comfort food is a must in autumn hearty meals and soups but lots of junk.
Movies and TV! Don’t you just love on a cold autumn’s night to cosy up to a really good box set or movie. I love a lot of thrillers or reality shows but also rom-coms and classics.
Finally it can’t be autumn without getting the knitwear out and I don’t mean clothing I mean knitting and trying to knit clothing but also shopping for clothing as well.
I love Sheep and Stitch-website etc.

This October marks the year Israel went to war with Gaza because of the October 7th Hamas attack. Except it hasn’t been a year for the Palestinian people as it feels like an endlessly recurrent genocide loop they have been in for the last century and still raw from the Nakba.
For Netanyahu it is a dangerous narrative for him to consistently repeat he is committing and commanding these atrocities in the name of defense because (and I quote this as I read this from somewhere) ‘terrorism can never be a response to terrorism.’ It is a shame that powerful states such as the US and UK continue to be complicit in providing the tools in which IDF consistently and in such a inhumane and brutal manner eradicate innocent Palestinians whom are forced to exile. I mention that is a recurrent genocide loop because it is linked with the founding story of Israel which is the Nakba. I am ashamed at writing at this because I feel so helpless in that I have no experience or witnessed their trauma and their loss and their years and years of exploitation however we have to call for permanent ceasefire’s we have to stop putting weapons in the hands of people destroying innocent peoples lives time and time again and we have to be a voice for those who have been silenced so it is loud enough to be heard and echoed till it finally comes to an end. One thing we can always do is educate ourselves and continue to pray and think about those who are suffering, are continuing to suffer and are being murdered. Continue to share stories, read stories, listen to people and lets continue to fight towards a permanent ceasefire.
