Hi Page Turners,
I hope you are all well and staying safe. This week saw the first snow of the year it has been a couple of years of having snow this early and even though it snowed for one day and it is freezing I love it. I love the sound of stepping in fresh snow, I love how everything looks beautiful and it just feels magical.
In this issue, I will be sharing books and articles I have read that have to be shared and that I enjoyed reading.
To start with this was a really interesting watch and something that should be watched as it allows an insight and a side of the other story. This is everything that didn’t happen on October 3rd

I recently re-read (or listened to the audiobook) The Handmaid’s Tale and with no surprise sales are up after Trump was elected for the second time as president of the US- read the Guardian article here https://www.theguardian.com/books/2024/nov/07/sales-dystopian-books-trump-election-handmaids-tale-on-tyranny
I loved reading
’s article on the power of literature a must read so eloquent and important read. Read it here- https://lithub.com/elif-shafak-on-the-power-of-literature-and-being-a-writer-in-the-age-of-angstSpeaking of
one of my favourite read of the year is her latest novel There are Rivers in the Sky- Elif Shafak. You can read my full review for my thoughts on this amazing novel. However, you will not regret reading it because it is just beautiful, touching, moving, and wonderfully human. It follows three characters in three different eras, but they all connect because of water. I really enjoyed this one, and it has undoubtedly become one of my favourites of the year. Some books I have been enjoying over the last two months:
Frantic- Katherine Howell
I listened to this as an audiobook and it was so gripping it is a story about a paramedic baby who has been kidnapped and an unravelling of family secrets, lies and tragedy. I loved listening to this and the ending of the last few chapters you did kind of know where it was going however such an enjoyable listen. What Remains- Wendy Walker
My favourite crime book of the year. This one again was such an edge-of-the-seat kind of read and it was just so mind-bending and clever the way the cat-and-mouse game played out. It was so interesting and kind of creepy oh how much knowledge is out there and how dark the author's mind is (lol) I enjoyed reading the book and getting to the end. Apples Never Fall- Liane Moriarty
Perhaps a little disappointing as it was more of a domestic rather than a thriller but a really good read. I love tennis so having this centered around tennis is amazing also at the same time I was watching the adaptation and have to say the book was better (of course). The ending was satisfying and all tied up quite nicely would read more by this author. Read my review here- https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/6886823441
Margaret Atwood- Burning Questions
This book has also been on my list for ages and I finally got around to it. A non-fiction collection of her essays, and lectures amongst others. It was a really good read loved learning about her craft how she came to writing and her influences. Read my review here- https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4051730850
Message Deleted- K. L. Slater
Another thriller I liked was Message Deleted. I read this quite quickly which suggests that I enjoyed this one as it was such a page-turner. The characters were questionable and perhaps not the most likeable but I loved the plot and another satisfying ending. Read my review here- https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/6922973167
