Books 📚

I finished reading the Qur'an alhamdullilah. My goal going forward is to read it in English and really try understand the meaning and better my understanding of what is actually written.

Yesterday I finished What Eden did Next by Sheila O'Flanagan which was a meh read for me just because I thought I was really going to enjoy it but it became way to predictable and the ending became a bit of a drag for me. (I did read The Missing Wife by the same author which I enjoyed better).

Opinion piece📰

A fallout of two political leaders in Sudan has led to violence and has left hundreds of people dead. Which leaves the country on the brink of civil war. Another example of how politics does the opposite of what it tries to enforce. (Also the news of Dominic Raab comes as no suprise yet is another let down and failure.)

The shooting in America when a Black teen rung the wrong doorbell he was shot by a white man. It is disturbing and terrifying. Not does it again bring gun violence in America to the forefront of the conversation but it again highlights how racism is very much alive and we need to take bigger measures to prevent situations like this.

Further reading 📑

A German artist entered a prestigious art competition and won. Only for it to be rejected because of his admission of his use of AI. It is quite disturbing and scary because it is another example of the world being unprepared at the rise/speed of AI. Until we get a grasp on how to control AI and not abuse it, I fear AI at the moment is too advanced for us to fully grasp the scale and power of it. In a matter of weeks it has already changed the world.

💭 My 3 am thoughts 🕒

Today at 3pm mobile phones in the UK will sound an alarm. It is being used as a test so in future it could potentially save lives...but it makes me think at what cost? Is this another invasion of our privacy.
