One of the most profound ways to achieve this is through reading. Starting with Non Fiction:
The Holy Qur’an
(the version I use)
The Majestic Quran: A Plain English Translation by Dr. Musharraf Hussain is an accessible, faithful, and beautifully presented translation of the Quran. Dr. Hussain's expertise ensures clarity while preserving the original meanings, enhanced by insightful commentary. This book serves as an invaluable resource for spiritual growth and understanding of Islamic teachings.
When The Moon Split
is an insightful and detailed biography that recounts the life of the Prophet Muhammad. The book covers key events and milestones, shedding light on the Prophet's personal qualities, his teachings, and the challenges he faced. It is a valuable resource for those seeking to understand the historical and spiritual journey of one of the most influential figures in history.
Secrets of Divine Love
This is a profound and poetic guide that delves into the heart of Islamic spirituality. The book beautifully intertwines Quranic verses, Hadith, and personal reflections, offering readers a deeper understanding of divine love and the spiritual path. It’s an inspiring read for anyone seeking to connect with their faith on a more intimate level and explore the mystical aspects of Islam. Such a must read!
(Note she has written another book that is her newest book which I haven't read yet but is on my tbr) plus her lectures are also a must watch.

This is a heartfelt and transformative guide that addresses the common emotional struggles we face in life. Fiction:
The Forty Rules of Love by Elif Shafak:
One of my favourite authors
never disappoints. This book is perfect to pick up in Ramadan and immerse yourself in the enchanting world of Rumi and Shams of Tabriz through this beautifully woven tale of love, spirituality, and self-discovery. Elif Shafak's novel invites readers to explore the transformative power of love and faith.Hana Khan Carries On by Uzma Jalaluddin
Another of my favourite authors
books are always great and this one is always a light read to read in the month of Ramadan. It is a charming and modern rom-com that follows Hana Khan, who juggles her family's struggling halal restaurant and her anonymously-hosted podcast. When a flashy competitor threatens their business, Hana turns to her podcast listeners for advice. Amidst a hate-motivated attack on their neighborhood and her growing attraction to Aydin, the rival business owner, Hana navigates a heartwarming journey filled with humor, love, and resilience.Minaret by Leila Aboulela
Such a beautifully written book that follows the journey of Najwa, a young Sudanese woman who is forced to flee her home due to political turmoil. Once privileged and secular, Najwa finds herself in London, where she gradually embraces her faith and finds solace within the Muslim community. The novel beautifully explores themes of identity, faith, and resilience, offering readers a poignant and thought-provoking narrative. Another must read.
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
Through its rich narrative and philosophical insights, "The Alchemist" explores themes of destiny, personal legend, and the transformative power of pursuing one’s true purpose.
It’s an inspiring read that resonates deeply with anyone seeking to understand their own journey and the universal quest for meaning and fulfillment. The quotes I have underlined in this book are some of my favourite quotes ever.
