Hi Page Turners,
This year, I've read fewer books compared to previous Januarys, but the quality of the reads certainly made up for the quantity. Despite reading only 10 books, I did read some books that have made a lasting impression on me.
January Reads:
Standout Reads of January
1. The Secret Lives of Booksellers and Librarians by James Patterson:
James Patterson's latest work was an absolute delight. This book provides an enchanting glimpse into the world of booksellers, capturing their passion for literature and the unique charm of bookstores. As a volunteer at the library, I found this book incredibly reaffirming and heartwarming. A must-read for anyone who cherishes the magic of books and the people who bring them to life.
2. The Bill Gates Problem by Tim Schwab:
In "The Bill Gates Problem," Tim Schwab offers a thought-provoking examination of the influence and impact of one of the world's most prominent figures. The book delves into the complexities of Gates' philanthropy and business ventures, raising important questions about power and responsibility. A compelling read for those interested in the intersection of technology, philanthropy, and society.
3. Feel Good Productivity by Ali Abdaal:
'This book isn't a to do list. It's a philosophy - a way of creating your own personalised toolkit.' Really good practical advice that can be applied to every day life. Loved the personal insights and he starts his content by citing different authors and scientists. Reading the experiments were really interesting and quite eye-opening.
4. Three Wishes by Liane Moriarty:
This captivating novel follows the lives of three sisters, each navigating their own set of challenges and dreams. Moriarty's storytelling is rich with emotion, humor, and relatable moments, making it a truly enjoyable read. Fans of family dramas will find this book particularly engaging. I loved the messy dynamics of the family and the outsider p.o.v looking into the family. And, of course the triplets own story and how much of it is shaped by their own family history. I loved reading Cat's and Gemma's stories the best and I honestly would love an adaptation of this book.
5. Missing You by Harlan Coben:
Harlan Coben's "Missing You" kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. The suspenseful plot, combined with well-developed characters and unexpected twists, made this book a page-turner. Coben's talent for creating gripping thrillers shines through a slow burner for sure! However, it kind of reminded me of Pieces of Her by Karin Slaughter. Really good satisfying ending. All I have to say is JEFF!
