Issue #9
Hi Page Turners,
This week has flown by right?! As promised I sadly ended my Ramadan Diaries with a final reflection post and my (kind of) goals and intentions for the upcoming months. You can read it all here- https://fizwrites.wixsite.com/website/post/ramadan-reflection-ramadan-wrap-up--food-pics
As I am also approaching my finals for uni the weeks coming are going to be full of stress, research, waffle, stress, writing, editing and repeat. I have booked some little getaways and books to escape from though.
How was your week and what does your upcoming month look like?
Books 📚
I finished reading The Last Party by Clare Mackintosh and it has become kind of a ritual to read one book by her at least once a year. Last year it was The Hostage (review here- https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4076283868) and I loved it. With The Last Party I just felt it had been done before and I liked it but it just wasn't to the standard I have of her books. It was a good read, just not the best book.
🎧 I started listening to a BBC Sounds Podcast called Vishal. It is a true crime about a boy called Visual who went missing during Charles and Diana's wedding. It is heart-wrenching and gripping. Currently on episode 3 but I would definitely recommend it. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0ffz1px
Opinion piece📰
I already know that our phone's carry so many germs but this article just highlighted how much so moral of the story CLEAN YOUR PHONE 😀😀 https://theconversation.com/the-dirty-truth-about-your-phone-and-why-you-need-to-stop-scrolling-in-the-bathroom-203988
If you haven't had enough of reading/watching/talking about AI here is an article (or should I say poem) about it: 😄 https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2023/04/20/chatgpt-poetry-ai-language/

'Every game has a beginning'. Does that line not just send shivers down your spine 😨 The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes dropped...and yep you guessed it...totally obsessed.

The trailer looks amazing (and I may do an analysis of the trailer on my blog sometime soon so be sure to look for it). If you haven't read my review for the book you can check it out here- https://fizwrites.wixsite.com/website/post/i-read-the-hunger-games-trilogy-prequel-and-now-i-am-obsessed
(Scroll down to the bottom of the blog post and read my thoughts).
Have you read the book/watched the trailer...tell me everything you are thinking!?
I will do a poll down below if you want a separate thread/chat to specifically talk books or participate in a book a month/read along and discuss it?
We always discuss racism and unconscious bias so when there is an opportunity why don't we jump at the chance to close the gaps. America's failure of the withdrawal from Afghanistan and now Sudan.

'Books can be mirrors for whoever holds them, and people don't always like what they see'.
